About CINCOS'12

The Congress of Innovation on Sustainable Construction - CINCOS’12 is an event organized by the Portuguese Platform for Sustainable Construction, which is the managing authority of the “Sustainable Habitat Cluster” in Portugal.

The congress aims to gather companies, municipalities, R&D units and other agents with a particular interest in the Built Environment Sustainability as a driving force for Innovation and Competitiveness.

This is an event for the Portuguese Sustainable Habitat Cluster in order to actively promote synergies and partnerships for innovation, whilst highlighting the work done so far by the Cluster agents and contribute to its differentiation and internationalization.

The Portuguese Platform for Sustainable Construction (www.centrohabitat.net), a non-profit association of companies, R&D centers, municipalities and other agents of the Habitat cluster, has been organizing this Congress since 2008. Its 3^rd edition will now take place in Aveiro (Portugal) from 20 to 22/September/2012.

Aiming the dissemination of projects and activities of companies, local governments, R&D units within the Habitat Cluster, the congress program is based on Workshops, Thematic Sessions and an Exhibition Point.

The Workshops will promote a debate with invited speakers on the following themes:

Sustainability and Innovation:

How to get neutral buildings?

Workshop to stimulate Innovation and Competitiveness within the Habitat cluster leading to the knowledge on “how to build or qualify” neutral buildings – a new reality brought by the recast of the European Directive.

Sustainable Cities:

Sustainable models for developing attractive cities?

Stimulate the urban planning and management through the engagement of local governments, companies and other relevant agents; An effort for Innovation in cooperation related to the promotion of local economy.

Sustainability and Markets:

How to create value and business opportunities through Sustainability?

The objective is to discuss how the “investment in Sustainability” can create market-value, open new opportunities and new markets. Focus will be given to the financing & investment in sustainability, as well as to markets and internationalization perspectives.

Clusters – the power of networking:

The role of clusters on international cooperation?

Discuss with European clusters the opportunities that networking offers in terms of Innovation and Competitiveness. To focus on international cooperation with a perspective on the FP7 and Horizon 2020 Programmes.
